My Poet "Bio"
I have an MA in English from the University of Cincinnati and an MFA in Creative Writing from Pacific University. I'm teaching with the Young Artist Project at Centrum this year. I volunteer as a editorial consultant for Crab Creek Review, write book reviews for literary journals, and love to teach classes and give readings (so contact me!) I recently received a Washington State Artist Trust GAP Grant and a Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prize.
My first book of poetry, Becoming the Villainess, was published by Steel Toe Books in April 2006, and my chapbook, Female Comic Book Superheroes, is available from  Pudding House Press.
My favorite poets include Louise Glück, Dana Levin, Margaret Atwood, Denise Duhamel, Louis Simpson, and Lucille Clifton. I read mythologies for inspiration, like Ovid's Metamorphoses, folk and fairy tale collections (especially Andrew Lang's Fairy Books,) The Bible, and of course, comic books. Right now I'm reading The Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon and the Tales of Genji.
For more details, see my "curriculum vita."

Special thanks to Paul Guidan for use of his cool Wonder Woman illustration.
